Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA):

SEWA was previously known as the Electricity and Water Supply Company before its ownership was transferred to the government of Sharjah.  In 2005 (the most recent year for which data is available) SEWA had a customer base of over 200,000 electricity consumers and over 191,000 water consumers.

SEWA also had a total installed power generation capacity of 1,902 megawatts and in 2005 peak demand equaled 78% of total installed capacity.  No data was currently available regarding minimum demand as a percentage of total installed capacity.

In 2005, SEWA’s total installed water production capacity equaled 74 MGD/day.  No published data is available regarding actual peak consumption, but it is assumed that consumption hovers at or near the level of total installed capacity and is frequently capacity constrained.
